Amoeba

Also spelled  Ameba,  plural  Amoebas, or Amoebae,   any of the microscopic unicellular protozoans of the rhizopodan order Amoebida. The well-known type species, Amoeba proteus, is found on decaying bottom vegetation of freshwater streams and ponds. There are numerous parasitic amoebas.
